Second Annual Talent Horizon Summit Brings a Human-Centered Approach

Flint & Genesee Education & Talent, alongside partners GST Michigan Works!, Mott Community College, Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership (SEDP), and the University of Michigan-Flint, will host its second annual Talent Horizon Summit at Genesee Career Institute, 5081 Torrey Road in Mundy Township on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

“This year’s theme is Personalizing Strategies for Growing Companies and Communities – a powerful focus on human-centered talent attraction, retention, and community growth,” says Brianna Mosier, executive director of Flint & Genesee Education & Talent. “The half-day conference will explore how personal invitation, the science of mattering, and data-driven workforce trends can help employers build cultures that people want to be a part of.”

Employer Spotlight: The University of Michigan-Flint

For nearly seven decades, the University of Michigan-Flint has been shaping futures, opening doors, and building opportunities in the heart of downtown Flint. Today, the campus serves more than 7,100 students and is entering a milestone year, celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2026 amid strong on-campus growth.

From more than 60 graduate programs and certificates to nine doctoral programs, UM-Flint offers ambitious learners a place to turn big goals into real careers, guided by nearly 500 faculty members and supported by 470 dedicated staff. A New Chapter for Lacure Elementary

The yellow-brick exterior of the former Lacure Elementary School looks much like it did in 2023 when its last class of students bounded outside for the final time.

But inside, it’s a whole new story.

Classrooms once home to spelling tests and multiplication tables are now filled with nearly two dozen business start-ups: budding entrepreneurs selling vintage clothing and motorcycle parts, providing services like massages and hair styling, and everything in between.

On weekends and evenings, home-school groups, Scouts, exercise instructors, pitching coaches, and robotics teams take their turn in the building’s spacious gym and meeting rooms. And with 100 parking spaces on 10 acres, it’s also the perfect spot for large graduation parties, baby showers, and even memorial services.

Helping dreams come true is Pamela Price’s happy place.

“I’m a strong believer in the ability of everyone to succeed,” said Price, founder of Priceless Dreams, a nonprofit organization based in Flint’s Capitol Theatre. “Because when people are given space to grow and transform their lives, they can uplift entire communities.”

An Atlanta native, Price moved to Flint in the 1970s and has had a varied career and educational experiences through the years. In addition to her current role as board chairman of Priceless Dreams, she works as a senior technical account manager at Oracle and is a member of the Central Michigan University (CMU) Alumni Board of Directors.

Priceless Dreams was born from her lifelong passion to help others.
