FEMA Deadline Coming Up

FEMAAs FEMA continues to assist those affected by last August’s storms, Congresswoman Slotkin is sharing another reminder that federal resources are available for eligible residents and businesses.The deadline to apply for assistance is now less than two weeks away: Monday, April 8, 2024.

As a reminder, the FEMA declaration covers Eaton, Ingham, Livingston, and Oakland counties in the 7th District. And if you have family or friends in Wayne, Ionia, Kent, Macomb, or Monroe counties who were affected by those storms, this information applies to them as well. 

If you have not already done so, you can start the application process either by logging on to FEMA’s website, downloading the FEMA app, or calling the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362. You can continue to find up-to-date information on disaster relief in Michigan and additional assistance HERE.

If you apply for FEMA assistance, you may be referred to the U.S. Small Business Administration. Their programs can help individuals in addition to businesses and non-profits. You can find out more about SBA assistance HERE and the SBA disaster assistance website.

FEMA assistance may also be available to renters that suffered uninsured or under insured losses in affected counties. You can find more information about assistance for renters HERE.

The Internal Revenue Services (IRS) has announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in the affected counties. You can find out more about tax relief HERE or by visiting the IRS’s disaster assistance website.
