Mid Michigan College will host the Conference on Global Learning: Where Stories Are Woven, Shared, and Savored on Tuesday, October 7, from 10am to 2pm in the Community Room on the Mt. Pleasant Campus. This event invites students, employees, and community members to explore and experience the richness of Turkish culture through cuisine, fine arts, music, history, and more.
The conference will feature interactive opportunities for attendees, including a hands-on craft session to create an evil eye wall hanging, and a majilis-style discussion focused on Turkey’s ancient history and culture of hospitality and inclusivity. Guests are encouraged to visit each station to learn more and collect passport stamps for a chance to win a Mid Bookstore gift card.
A highlight of the day will take place at 1pm, when participants will connect via Zoom with academic leaders from Nisantasi University in Turkey for an engaging conversation about global learning, cultural understanding, and international collaboration.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Mid Michigan College’s newly announced Study Abroad opportunity in Turkey, planned for the Winter 2026 semester. This immersive program will provide students with firsthand experiences of Turkish culture and global perspectives. More details can be found at midmich.edu/Istanbul
