Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration

Mid Michigan College, in partnership with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, is honored to invite community members to a special Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration on Monday, October 13, from 10am to Noon in the Community Room on Mid’s Mt. Pleasant Campus. This event is free and open to the public. 

This meaningful event will honor the cultural traditions, history, and contributions of Indigenous peoples through music, reflection, and education. Indigenous Peoples’ Day serves as a time to uplift Native voices, celebrate cultural heritage, and reaffirm a commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable future.

Event Schedule | Monday, October 13

  • 10am | Opening– Blue House Singers and Drum Circle
  • 10:10am | Welcome– Tim Hood, President of Mid Michigan College; Neil MacKinnon, President of Central Michigan University or Designee; Representatives of the Tribal Council of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe
  • 10:30 | Keynote Address– Sam Anglin, Indigenous Chef and Traditional Food Educator, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College
  • 11am | Indigenous Food Demonstration
  • 12pm | Closing– Blue House Singers and Drum Circle
