EPA Awards $54.3 Million to Clean-up Contaminated Properties

They review the recent announcement that the EPA has awarded $54.3 million to 147 communities across the United States to clean-up and redevelop contaminated properties and boost local economies.

Six Michigan communities will receive a total of more than $2.5 million to fund Phase I/IIs, Asbestos, Lead Paint and other hazardous materials including:

  • Alger County (Munising) – $196,100 in community-wide assessment
  • Detroit – $350,000 for assessment at Riverside Park, Parcel #3
  • Downriver Community Conference – $500,000 for assessment
  • Genesee County Land Bank – $200,000 for cleanup of the former Ramada Hotel
  • Jackson County – $400,000 for community-wide assessment
  • Lansing – $500,000 for assessment
  • Muskegon – $400,000 for community wide assessment.
