Yesterday, during the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB)’ Evening of Excellence, long-time Chamber friend Devin Scillian was inducted into its Hall of Fame for his significant contributions to media in the Michigan community alongside several other accomplished journalists.

“I can’t appreciate enough of Devin’s standards of not having guests on his program that he knew would not tell the truth. That is journalism,” said Sandy K. Baruah, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, in a tribute video.

Additionally, Megan Spanitz, the Chamber’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, took the stage during MAB’s Policy Summit, speaking on the panel, “Business and Broadcasting: Where Michigan is Heading.” Spanitz discussed the importance of “covering the facts and not the fight,” and how media is an economic asset that creates a strong civic infrastructure.

Finley: Data Centers Are Michigan’s Last, Best Hope

Nolan Finley explores why these facilities matter for Michigan’s long-term growth, investment opportunities, and technological advancement in a recent op-ed in The Detroit News.

The Chamber’s stance: The Chamber is a proud founding member of the Michigan for Responsible Data Centers coalition. Launched in March, the coalition actively addresses the significant information gap regarding the state’s digital infrastructure. The Chamber remains focused on fostering a policy environment that ensures Michigan is a top-tier destination for 21st-century infrastructure and innovations.
