Open Door Program Helps Reduce Barriers to Educational Success

Compared with residents across the tri-county region, Detroit residents are nearly twice as likely to report struggling to afford basic necessities such as food and housing.

Recognizing that these challenges can create barriers to educational success and recognizing the importance of education to economic mobility, the Detroit Regional Chamber recently launched the Open Door program to help address basic needs and eliminate barriers that can prevent students from reaching their educational goals.

Regional Transit Gets Big Boost From Wayne County Voters

During last week’s primary election, voters approved the 10-year transit millage proposal backed by Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans and the Chamber.

Rocket Classic Legacy Gift Strengthens Digital Equity and Postsecondary Education Efforts Across Detroit

Rocket Community Fund has announced a $4.5 million investment to help connect more Detroit residents to affordable, high-speed internet and support students pursuing postsecondary education.

The commitment, created to ensure the legacy of the Rocket Classic, includes improvements to internet access in Detroit public housing communities and a new scholarship fund benefiting participants of College, Career & Beyond and First Tee of Greater Detroit.

Advancing Inclusion Through Community Engagement

Last week, Chamber staff volunteered at the Living and Learning Enrichment Center (LLEC), which provides social, work-based, and community engagement opportunities for people with disabilities.
