Yesterday afternoon, Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Sandy K. Baruah shared opening remarks on the importance of local journalism and media at the “Local News Crisis and the Impact on Michigan Communities” event at the Detroit Athletic Club.

A thriving local media landscape is critical to a healthy democracy, and therefore to a healthy business community. 

Recently, the Chamber called upon its members to submit public comments to the Michigan Board of Canvassers to ensure that the proposed ballot summary language for a graduated income tax is transparent and accurately describes the proposal’s impact.

The Chamber will continue to advocate for the ability of businesses of all sizes to succeed in Michigan and for the state to remain competitive in attracting new companies.
