Chris talks with Tomas Hult, Ph.D, Byington Endowed Chair and Professor of Marketing at Michigan State University (MSU), Director of MSU-CIBER (International Business Center), and Executive Director Academy of International Business. Tomas provides insight on the state of the economy in China, the devaluation of their currency and the impact that it will have on global trade.
They also talk about the current state of trade agreements globally, and touch on global supply chain management and its importance as export trade increases.
There are currently 275 free trade agreements in the world, but the U.S. is only involved in 14 of these. It is easier for companies to do business in the U.S., but much harder for the U.S. to do business in foreign markets. Tomas has been called to advocate to Congress.
