General Motors (GM) is asking the Copyright Office to stop granting exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, allowing consumers to jailbreak the code in their car engines.
By disallowing jailbreaking, all unofficial DIYers or non-GM mechanics would be excluded from modifying or fixing the vehicle, giving GM a huge amount of control over the product for its lifetime.
