
KALAMAZOO, MI – While the kazoo may not have been invented in Kalamazoo, the city’s name has made it synonymous with the iconic instrument. In celebration of National Kazoo Day on January 28, Discover Kalamazoo is inviting residents and visitors to join in the fun with musical-themed giveaways and free kazoos.
Community members are encouraged to stop by one of the following locations, while supplies last, to pick up a complimentary kazoo and enter for a chance to win exciting prizes:

WMU Student Center, Lower Level - The Spirit of Kalamazoo

Three prizes will be awarded, including two pairs of tickets to a performance of choice during the Gilmore Piano Festival and a pair of tickets to see STOMP: Celebrating 30 Years at Miller Auditorium.
Established in 1983, National Kazoo Day marks the 100th anniversary of the instrument’s original patent. Discover Kalamazoo’s celebration honors this milestone while highlighting the city’s unique connection to the beloved kazoo and its vibrant arts and music community.
