Delta Dental Spreads Holiday Cheer by Giving Back to Michigan Communities

OKEMOS, Mich.  Delta Dental of Michigan is proud to end the year by giving back to communities across the state and helping people take care of themselves and their families.

The holiday effort punctuates another year of strategic investments designed to remove the most challenging obstacles to going to the dentist or the doctor – food insecurity, housing, transportation and education.

“At Delta Dental, we believe all of us have a role to play in helping those in need all year long,” said Carmen Burnell, manager of strategic partnerships at Delta Dental.  “Our employees are particularly generous during the holiday season.”

This holiday season, Delta Dental led the following initiatives:

  • Holiday Food Drive: As part of our mission of service and giving back, Delta Dental has worked to address food insecurity through our annual Holiday Food Drive. As a company, we donated $50,000 in corporate match dollars, and our generous employees gave more than $6,500 to food banks that help feed local communities. Staff also volunteered to distribute food at mobile food pantries, packed food kits for seniors and students, and sorted donations at the food banks.
  • Operation Good Cheer: Our employees opened their hearts and wallets to partner with Child and Family Charities to help children living in foster care have a happier holiday season. More than 300 gifts were purchased, wrapped and delivered to nearly 100 children through this program, which has become a beloved holiday tradition for our employees.
  • A Kid Again: Delta Dental helped sick children be “A Kid Again” by sponsoring an event for families of kids facing life-threatening illnesses. One hundred families had the opportunity to enjoy the lights and animals at Lansing’s Potter Park Zoo, visit Santa and momentarily set aside family medical troubles to make special, lasting memories. Check out a recap of the event on WILX News 10!

“We look forward to continuing to give back to the communities we proudly serve across Michigan as we approach 2026,” Burnell said. “We’d like to thank all our employees, community partners and friends who helped us make a difference this past year.”
