This month Dave is discussing a module – Three common workplace BIASES.

List out the names of your top ten trusted friends.  People that you would leave your kids or pets with it in a pinch.  People that you would be willing to help to move, or on a big home improvement project.  Then list out their age, their race, their gender, their educational levels, their socio-economic levels, and their career track.  Do you find that most of the names on the list are people who are a lot like you?  This is the case for most of us.

A concept that was developed just around the turn of the century by psychologists Mahzarin Banaii and Anthony Greenwald is Unconscious Bias, defined as a bias that happens automatically, is outside of our control, and is triggered by our brain making quick judgements and assessments of people and situations, influenced by our background, cultural environment, and personal experiences.

In Crestcom’s session on Bias, one of our newest modules presented by Dr. Tyrone Holmes, we look at three commonplace biases in the workplace.  Affinity bias, Confirmation Bias, and Halo/Horns effect bias.

To learn a little moreabout how bias can adversely affect your business, and what you might do about it, listen in as Dave & Jeffery discuss these concepts further.  Improving your understanding of unconscious bias may help you bring some things to the conscious level and act on them accordingly.   Listen in to learn more.
