This month Dave is discussing a module – Mastering Negotiations.

In business it’s very easy to become focused on wanting exactly what we want.  We’ve brought our team together to collaborate on an idea, we’ve done some initial investigation of options and strategies, and now we hit the execution phase – time to go make stuff happen.  We reach out to vendors and suppliers to pull together the resources we need, in the timeframe we want, but we begin to encounter some challenges – the timing won’t work, the preferred methodologies are not supported by specific vendors, or the vendors begin to insert their “expertise” into our plan and things begin to get bogged down.

As a manager, you negotiation not only with vendors and suppliers, but with members of your team, your own manager, cross-functionally within your organization, and with your customers.  If you think about it, there is a lot of negotiation that happens on a regular basis.  And then you go home at night and find there is more negotiation over the dinner choices, homework, after school activities, etc….

Being able to negotiate comfortably and confidently is a skill that managers need, but it doesn’t necessarily come easily to all of us.  Crestcom has developed a five step process, and a wide variety of tools that can help you feel more confident, and be more successful with negotiation.  The fundamental concept is a five step process – Prepare, Know, Create, Give & Get, and Conclude.

To learn a little more detail about this process, listen in as Dave & Jeffery discuss these concepts further, and provide you with an opportunity to improve a skill that you probably spend a lot of time doing.  Improving your negotiating skills can help your company achieve bottom line results, and can help you eliminate some stress from wrangling ineffectively with those you need to work with.  Listen in to learn more.
