Cybersecurity Act of 2015 – What Does this Mean?

TechnologyThe Omnibus Appropriations Act that President Obama signed into law last week has a provision called the Cybersecurity Act of 2015. This new act includes sections about internet monitoring that modify internet surveillance laws.

We are dealing with outdated technology laws such as the Wiretap Act, the Pen Register statute and Stored Communications Act and these concepts typically do not apply to internet monitoring. The Cybersecurity Act legally gives “network operators” the ability to monitor.
