(Detroit) – The Construction Association of Michigan (CAM) proudly endorsed Independent candidate Mike Duggan for Governor today.
“Deciding to back Mike was a simple decision. He is someone who will work to improve the business climate for our members at a time when inflation, material costs and labor costs can cause shaky ground. Our members like consistency, and so does Mike Duggan,” said Kevin Koehler, president of CAM.
“It’s an honor to be endorsed by a group that I have been proud to count as friends for decades,” Duggan said. “CAM sets a great example for how the economy, safety and regulations can intersect, and their lessons will be carried with me into the Governor’s office.”
CAM is a non-profit association of more than 1,700 members composed of general contractors, subcontractors, equipment and material suppliers and more. It was founded in 1885 and is one of the oldest and largest regional construction associations in North America.
Duggan has garnered an impressive list of endorsements through his campaign so far, including CAM and other business groups which see his vision for Michigan’s economy.
“The Mayor has experience in bringing business and jobs back to Detroit, and it’s clear to me that he’d apply the same principles across the state. There is demand in areas like housing shortages and whether there is enough skilled labor to meet that need. Duggan is ready to show that he can meet this moment,” said Kelvin Squires, CEO of Center Line Electric Co. Inc. and the Chairman of the CAM Board.
CAM’s endorsement translates to meaningful connections in one of Michigan’s critical industries, showing once again that Duggan can connect with and understand the priorities of these groups.
“Duggan continues to impress us. He’s got the track record to be proud of, and a plan for the future to be hopeful for. That’s the next governor of the State of Michigan,” said Michael Joseph, CAM’s Treasurer, Chairman-elect, and principal & executive vice president of DeMaria Construction.
