The new directors were elected at the 107th annual meeting of the Citizens Research Council on September 27, 2023, at the St. John’s Resort in Plymouth, MI. The meeting immediately preceded the annual fundraising dinner. Speakers at the dinner focused on the distinguished history of the Research Council’s work, reflecting on current key challenges facing the state and its residents, including the state’s stagnant population growth, and increasing the number of residents with a post-secondary degree or credential. Also at the event, the Research Council honored a remarkable public servant, Dr. Ora Pescovitz, president of Oakland University, with the Eugene A. Gargaro Jr. Public Service Award.

The evening also included a short review of 2023 Research Council highlights, including the widely covered five-part research series on Michigan’s Prosperous Future, which prompted Governor Whitmer to create the Growing Michigan Together Council.
