MBN: CMHLANSING, Mich. – Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties (CMHA-CEI) is excited to share the latest developments for the upcoming Crisis Care Center, a dedicated space for adults, youth and families facing behavioral health emergencies, opening in 2026.

Construction is underway, with demolition nearly complete and the next phase beginning this month. From vital infrastructure improvements like HVAC and plumbing upgrades to the thoughtful layout of the facility itself, every element is being developed to ensure individuals and families in crisis can walk into an environment that feels calm, supportive and ready to help.

While the building takes form, so does the vision for the care it will provide. CMHA-CEI is actively preparing for the 2026 opening by establishing partnerships with service providers for pharmacy and food services to support immediate clinical needs and overall well-being.

Staffing is also growing to meet the needs of this innovative model of care. A triage nurse from Families Forward is already on-site, a parent support position has recently been posted, and plans are underway to recruit a Deputy Medical Director. These efforts will bring new job opportunities to the Greater Lansing area, expand the local behavioral health workforce, and offer meaningful career paths for professionals dedicated to community care.

“We are proud of the steady, collaborative progress being made to bring the Crisis Care Center to life,” said Sara Lurie, Chief Executive Officer of CMHA-CEI. “This has been a true community effort—driven by strong partnerships, the support of MDHHS, and a shared vision across agencies and advocates. The center will be a vital resource for individuals and families across our region, offering a more person-centered approach to care that meets people where they are, in the moments they need it most.”

Each step forward reflects CMHA-CEI’s broader investment in building a trauma-informed space that prioritizes dignity, safety and responsive care. From interior design to staff training and service planning, the Crisis Care Center is being built with people in mind—those who walk through the doors and those who stand ready to support them.
