On this week’s edition of the MIRS weekly report, the Capitol reporters interview House Speaker Kevin Cotter on the delay in his chamber for a vote on legislation capping the amount hospitals and other providers can receive as payment from the insurers of automobile accident victims.
In addition, the Speaker is critical of Detroit Public Schools teachers who took the day off school to protest the release of Gov. Rick Snyder’s plan to split the district in half, and pledges not to “cut a check” to handle DPS’ debt. Cotter finally gives his thoughts on the passage of the May 5 road funding ballot proposal, Proposal 1.
