Some of Michigan’s most in-demand jobs are in science, technology, engineering and math {and don’t forget the arts}. And when we think about businesses and their future, we shouldn’t only focus on how we’ll prepare our future workforce now; we must also consider who makes up that workforce.
There has been an increase in women pursuing careers in the STEM industry in recent years. But according to the National Science Board, while women make up half of the U.S. college-educated workforce, they only comprise 28% of the science and engineering sector.
