Economic Development, Edythe Hatter-Williams, CAMW!Chris catches up with Edythe Hatter-Williams, CEO of Capital Area Michigan Works! (CAMW!) Lansing, MI. They take a look back at CAMW!’s Annual Dinner. CAMW!, along with Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP), hosted an annual dinner on December 9, to recognize the accomplishments and growth within the region over the past year.

Among the points of focus were how CAMW! and LEAP presented awards to exemplary employers in the region.

  • CAMW! and LEAP presented the CATALYST Award, which recognizes a single organization that is making a significant impact on talent in the region, to Cameron Tool Corp.
    • Cameron Tool is a great example of a company that has working partnerships to build and sustain a strong workforce in the region.
    • It believes in growing its own and is a model organization for its effort to recruit the next generation of talent and keep them in the region. In particular, it is very involved with students by offering apprenticeships, internships, training, tour events and more.
  • LEAP presented its Innovation in Talent Retention Award to Michigan State University Federal Credit Union.
    • MSUFCU understands the importance of retaining talent and creating an innovative corporate culture in order to do so.
    • In addition to providing a work culture employees want, MSUFCU’s prolific social cause engagement with community issues, green environment at its headquarters, jazz music series and commitment to diverse and inclusive experience, all make a positive impact on both its employees and the region.
  • CAMW! recognized some of its partners that work with the system, such as KIRCHHOFF Van-Rob, Arthritis Care, MAHLE, Accident Fund Holdings Inc., Cristo Rey Community Center and individuals who have found success through CAMW!
  • In addition to the partner awards, CAMW! recognized Jane Doty, chair of the CAMW! Development Board, with the Leonard Peters Lifetime Achievement Award for her years of service and dedication to the system.
