While at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, for the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce 2016 Annual Celebration, Jeffrey Mosher talks with Ray Minervini, of the Minervini Group LLC.
Ray shares the background story that lead to the creation of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. He was originally from Detroit and moved to Traverse City 25 years ago. He watched the remarkably beautiful buildings in Detroit being demolished by neglect. When he heard about a beautiful building, the largest building in the state, was being abandoned in Traverse City and was slated for demolishment, he felt it was important to save it. He went on to create a plan, renovated buildings around it and ultimately renovated this building.
The project was started fifteen years ago and is now known as the The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. It is all about community, mixing spaces for different purposes.
