BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Youth Solutions proudly hosted its annual Leadership Days at three different locations, bringing together 196 Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) youth, specialists, and managers from programs across Michigan.
During the three Leadership Days, youth engaged in a variety of challenging activities, including zip lining, rock climbing, and team-building exercises, which encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones and apply the leadership and teamwork skills developed in their JMG programs. One key activity helped them discover and reflect on their personal leadership styles, followed by a recap session where youth discussed how these styles could be applied in various settings, fostering a deeper understanding of their unique strengths.
“We were excited to host the 10th annual Leadership Days to equip youth with meaningful life skills that they can use well beyond high school. Of course our youth had fun, but more importantly, they gained confidence in themselves, they engaged in problem-solving activities, and utilized their leadership and communication skills throughout the day,” said Roger Curtis, Executive Director of Youth Solutions.
Leadership Days were hosted on:
-
October 9: Camp Daggett, Petoskey MI
-
October 16: YMCA Camp Manitou - Lin, Middleville M
-
October 17: YMCA Camp Ohiyesa, Holly, MI
“Through partnerships with Camp Daggett, YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin, YMCA Camp Ohiyesa, and Youth Solutions, JMG youth experienced an unforgettable opportunity they might not have otherwise had,” Curtis added.
