Youth Solutions’ Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Program Exceeds Rigorous National Outcome Metrics

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — With youth disengagement on the rise, an aging and less educated population, Youth Solutions stands on the forefront to combat the issues facing Michigan through their leading program, Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG).

After a record-breaking year serving 5,041 youth throughout Michigan, Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates greatly exceeded national goal standards set by Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG). This milestone reflects JMG's dedication to helping young people identify a pathway for postsecondary success while overcoming individual barriers, keeping them learning and earning in Michigan.

Stephanie Beckhorn“The JMG program plays a crucial role in re-engaging these young individuals, providing them with the skills, opportunities, and support necessary to reconnect with education and employment, ultimately benefiting Michigan's youth and long-term talent pipeline,” emphasized Stephanie Beckhorn, Director of the Office of Employment and Training for the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) (left).

Youth Solutions, a nonprofit organization operating at the intersection of education and workforce development, is proud to announce they exceeded rigorous national performance targets across all three of their program models: Multi-Year, Alternative Education, and Out-of-School. The organization achieved a 92% graduation rate, had 71% of graduates enter into employment, and helped 54% of graduates enroll into post-secondary education. These year-end outcomes are particularly impressive as the organization has served more youth than ever before through 126 programs in 80 cities across Michigan.

Roger Curtis-1“Youth Solutions continues to impact more Michigan youth and still deliver amazing outcomes,” said Youth Solutions’ Executive Director Roger Curtis (left). “Behind our numbers are real and incredible stories of youth whose lives have been changed.  A huge thank you to our talented and dedicated specialists who work with JMG youth every day, empowering and helping them graduate with the skills and an actionable plan for postsecondary success.”

Youth Solutions, the state-based affiliate of the national JAG organization, is committed to providing Michigan’s youth with the support and experiences that prepare them for their futures.

Youth Solutions aims to ensure every youth in Michigan has access to career-focused education and graduates with a plan for postsecondary success. Since 2008, Youth Solutions has impacted youth, ages 11-24, across Michigan.
