Taking you back five years, Jeffrey Mosher headed north May 3rd to be on hand at Treetops Resort, for the second annual event back in 2019. Grill on the Hill / EggFest 2019, was where he caught photos, interviews and audio excerpts from that weekend experience.
Back By Popular Demand – Big GREEN EGG ‘GRILL ON THE HILL’ Are You an EGG HEAD?
Or Just like to Eat Meat and Drink Michigan Brew?
Then Saturday, May 4th was for You!
Treetops Resort to Host ‘Grill on the Hill – EggFest 2019’
Mosher shares 10 interviews and excerpts from the Celebrity Chefs Demos during Saturday May 2019's event at Treetops Resort, click play on the SoundCloud PodCasts below.
The culinary team at Michigan’s Most Spectacular Resort – Treetops Resort tried something new last year at the Top of the Hill and it’s safe to say it was a smashing success! Treetops ‘Grill on the Hill’ is a Big Green Egg
Cooking Competition, AKA an “EggFest.” Cooking teams traveled from near and far to show guests what they could do with these green dimpled ceramic grilling contraptions. Turns out people are literally obsessed with their Eggs – and with what they tasted from the competitors in 2018, it’s (over) easy to see why.
Meat, good beer, live music, and great friends: a combination that surely can’t be beat. Crowds enjoyed all three on Saturday, May 4th from Noon to 4 p.m. at Treetops Resort’s second annual Grill on the Hill EggFest sponsored by Meyer Ace Hardware, and BLiS Gourmet. The competition was open to 30 teams that picked between a 40lb bone in pork butt, 24 racks of St Louis style ribs, 50lbs of fresh chicken wings, or 35lbs of brisket. Each Grill Team was provided a large BIG Green Egg, which can be used as a grill, oven, or smoker. Competitors tested their grilling skills against some of Michigan’s best, with a cost $200 for a team of up to four people, and includes the meat and all of the Green Egg essentials.
The interviews captured May 4th are also accompanied on most segments by excerpts from the Celebrity Chef Demos which ran most of the afternoon featuring Joe Pichey of Go Blue BBQ, of Texas, (a Flint, MI, native) and Trace Scarborough of Thunderbird Wings, of Nashville, TN.
Here interviews with:
Treetops GM Barry Owens
Josh and Jeff of Big Dog Barbecue
Justin with Paratiempo Barbecue
Bill, Steve and Matt with Stro's BBQ
Chef Roderick and Chef Michael with Treetops
The Big Gator with Q100fm
Trace Scarborough of Thunderbird Wings of Tennessee
Joe Pichey of Go Blue BBQ of Texas
Dan Trahey of Star Fire Distributors of Ohio
and then hear again from Treetops' GM Barry Owen looking back on the great weather, great golfing, great grilling on the hill for EggFest 2019.
So be sure to head back up and click play on all the interviews, but also take a time to watch the slide show of a sample of 28 pictures from that day - below. MBN also posted 8 photo albums all over 30 pictures each on FaceBook back at that time, so check those out as well "way back" in 2019. These should get you hungry for 2024's Grill on the Hill.
