WASHINGTON, D.C. –This past week, the Senate passed a landmark, bipartisan legislative package authored by U.S. Senator Gary Peters (D-MI), Chairman Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, to significantly enhance our nation’s ability to combat ongoing cybersecurity threats against our critical infrastructure and the federal government. The legislation is urgently needed in the face of potential cyber-attacks sponsored by the Russian government in retaliation for U.S. support in Ukraine.

“Cybercriminals continue attacking state, local, tribal, and territorial government networks. The federal government needs to step in and take action to help these local communities – which often lack the resources to defend themselves – to quickly identify threats and seal up vulnerabilities in their information technology systems,” said Senator Peters. “This bipartisan legislation will help local governments provide critical services to residents even in the event of a cyber-attack, and I’ll continue to fight for its swift passage into law.”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced $753,500 to support rural communities in the Upper Peninsula. These funds come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program, secured by Senator Stabenow in the 2018 Farm Bill.
