New not-for-profit organization to increase eye care access for homebound Detroiters

International eyeglasses company partners with Eye Care For Detroit to provide low-cost eyewear options; announcement timed as birthday greeting for Detroit residents 

DETROIT, Mich. — Beginning Sept. 1, an estimated 40,000 homebound Detroit residents and other underserved populations in Metro Detroit will have access to low-cost, high-quality eye care through Eye Care For Detroit Inc., a new not-for-profit, and its eyewear partnership with Eyeglasses.com, an international eyeglasses company.

Peters and Magnus Highlighted Importance of Secure and Efficient Travel and Trade at Michigan’s Northern Border, Met with Local Community Leaders

DETROIT, MI – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, was joined by Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Chris Magnus for a firsthand look at the important role that CBP plays in facilitating secure and efficient trade and travel at ports of entry at Michigan’s Northern Border. Peters and Magnus visited the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron and the construction site of the Gordie Howe International Bridge in Detroit to highlight the economic importance of Michigan’s international border crossings and the critical role CBP plays in ensuring that people and goods moving across our border are safe, secure and able to move efficiently.

Convergence Networks announced today that Michael Maddox has been appointed new President of the company. An experienced business leader, Maddox will work with current CEO Mathew Lafrance to continue to grow the organization. Mike Maddox worked as CEO and President of Application Specialist Kompany, ASK, for 18 years, before merging with Convergence Networks out of Ottawa ON, and Portland, OR in 2021.
