OKEMOS, Mich. — Members of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) elected new officers and appointed board members during the association’s Annual Membership Meeting June 29. Officers of the 2023-2024 MHA Board of Trustees include Shannon Striebich, chair; Julie Yaroch, DO, chair-elect; and Bill Manns, treasurer. In addition, Brian Peters was reappointed to serve an indefinite term of office as CEO of the association.

Applying Precision Genomics to Optimize Cancer Patient Treatment Recommendations
Clinical biomarkers can be valuable tools for assessing prognosis and treatment options for cancer patients. PIK3R1 and POLE are emerging biomarkers in endometrial cancer. In endometrial cancer patients, PIK3R1 mutations are highly prevalent and associated with poor prognosis, but their biochemical effects in the cell are diverse and not well studied. Conversely, detection of a POLE mutation is associated with good prognosis, which guide clinicians to can spare patients from the toxicity of overtreatment.

LANSING, Mich. — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin multiple road and bridge repair projects next week in four counties including resurfacing work on M-28 in Chippewa County, rebuilding the I-94 Dearing Road exit ramp in Jackson County, rebuilding the I-96 exit ramp to Novi Road in Oakland County, and repairing the Bellevue Road on ramp to US-127 in Ingham County.
