Tuition-free community college program expansion provides limited-time opportunity for those under 25 to enroll before window closes next fall
LANSING, Mich. – Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer kicked off “Opening Week” for adults ages 21 to 24 who have not yet earned a college degree to enroll in Michigan Reconnect, a tuition-free community college scholarship program previously limited to those 25 and older.

LANSING, Mich. -- Not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates declined in 16 of Michigan’s 17 labor market areas over the month, according to data released today by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
“Michigan regional labor markets displayed typical seasonal rate declines in August,” said Wayne Rourke, labor market information director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics. “Employment and workforce levels rose in most regions over the year.”
LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose by one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.7 percent during August, according to data released today by the Department of Technology, Management & Budget. Both total employment and unemployment in the state rose over the month, resulting in a labor force gain of 25,000 since July.
