LANSING, Mich. – Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) today to announce $75 million in Out-of-School Time Grant funds awarded to 177 organizations throughout the state to enhance learning opportunities beyond the classroom for Michigan students.
LANSING, Mich. – As part of Michigan’s ongoing efforts to build and sustain local opportunities to respond to child care needs, the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) today released a report from Regional Child Care Coalitions, groups of community leaders, child care providers, and economic development organizations that are collaborating to tackle child care challenges at the local level.
WHAT: The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics releases monthly employment situation reports that outline the current unemployment rate and specific household and establishment survey data. In November 2024, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 227,000 and the unemployment rate was little changed at 4.2%.

MILWAUKEE – This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first bobblehead of Zeke the WonderDog to celebrate Zeke’s 10th birthday, which is today. Zeke is the unofficial mascot of the Michigan State Spartans who has been entertaining fans with his Frisbee-catching ability since the late-1970s. The officially licensed bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Michigan State University, in conjunction with the school and Zeke’s handlers.
