AHF Awards Presented at M1 Concourse

For those who couldn’t join us last week at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac for the presentation of the 2022 Automotive Heritage Awards here is the video. We again enlisted our friends at Wild Road Pictures and Better Planet Video to massage it into a complete presentation.

The Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation began by presenting a substantial scholarship in the name of the AHF to a young lady from Pennsylvania, Madison Blood, who just graduated from high school and is headed this fall to College for Creative Studies here in Detroit to begin the pursuit of a career as a car designer. She can’t wait, she told us, to spend lots of time drawing cars.

AWAF board member and CEO at the renowned Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Carla Bailo, began the presentation with insightful comments on the future of automobile enthusiasm.

Our Automotive Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award rounded out our agenda with a tribute to Patrick Bedard, one of the most beloved and respected auto writers in the business who spent more than forty years at Car and Driver as tech editor, reviewer of cars, columnist, and gadfly. Pat’s “voice,” or writing style, is colorful, creative, concise, and entertaining. He is the kind of writer who inspired many Car and Driver subscribers to go first to his column when they got a new issue.

Pat was introduced and lauded by his friends and colleagues Don Sherman and Csaba Csere, both past Lifetime Achievement honorees. The three of these gentlemen represent more than 25 years of technical leadership at Car and Driver magazine.

Thanks to the M1 Concourse CEO, Tim McGrane, and event manager, Dave Sherman, for hosting the Automotive Heritage Awards again. And, thanks to all those who helped make it another wonderful event.

Congratulations Patrick!

A Shunpiker's Journal, hosted by Steve Purdy, covers the stories of its host and others who shun the turnpikes and freeways of America to better enjoy the businesses and life that revolve around the automobile.
