Wayne State to observe Juneteenth with upcoming events

Juneteenth is a federal holiday recognizing June 19, 1865, the day the U.S. Army arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform enslaved Black people that they've been freed by the Emancipation Proclamation.

To recognize the holiday, Wayne State University has put together a Juneteenth series featuring an art exhibition, panel discussions and more taking place June 12-20.
