Build vibrant communities with us

Your gift to TechTown powers the progress of nearly 1,000 Detroit-based tech founders and small business owners each year, like James McKissic, owner of Mac Galleries

McKissic is an alum of our Retail Boot Camp and 313 STRONG programs. Mac Galleries is a multigenerational family business dedicated to showcasing local artists, with a particular focus on Black artists. McKissic has credited TechTown for helping him maintain his father’s legacy by updating the gallery’s business model and paving the way for him to open a brick-and-mortar.

“TechTown is an intricate part [of] the small business community and is helping to change the landscape of our city,” McKissic says.

TechTown tenants offering educational services for local students and teachers

As we near the end of 2023 and schools begin to close for holiday break, it’s never too late to prepare the students in your life with the educational boost they need to start 2024 off strong. Or if you’re a teacher, you might be seeking support and collaboration with fellow educators in your area.

TechTown Detroit is home to several organizations that specifically cater to both students and educators in the metro Detroit area. In a recent blog post, we highlight Math 4 Success, the Black Male Educators Alliance and No Fear Café.
