Two weeks left to apply for the 2024 Contest!

Applications for the 2024 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest by TechTown are due at noon on Friday, Feb. 16! That deadline is right around the corner, so begin your application today! And if you've already started one, don't forget to complete and submit it!

In recent years, the Contest has awarded emerging Detroit businesses like 27th Letter Books, Little Liberia, and Bouncing Around The Motor City the $100,000 grand prize. Your business could be next!

View live demos by emerging tech founders at our next Start Studio MVP Demo Day

Come down to TechTown on Wednesday, Feb. 21 for our Start Studio MVP Winter 2024 Demo Day! Twelve promising startups will present their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that they've been working hard on for the last six weeks!

The evening will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with networking, food and beverages. After introducing the tech founders, attendees will have the chance to watch live demonstrations of the MVPs and vote for their favorite one. Three winners will receive cash prizes!

ICYMI: VentureWell and TechTown's Ascend program receives a $500,000 grant

VentureWell, one of TechTown's ecosystem partners, received a $500,000 grant last year from the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Technology Transitions for creating programming and support for energy startup teams and entrepreneurs.

The program is the Ascend Energy & Mobility Accelerator, which trained its inaugural cohort of 10 Michigan-affiliated startup teams during last summer and fall. Offered in partnership with TechTown, the six-week program supports entrepreneurs who are working on solutions to energy and mobility problems. VentureWell and TechTown are gearing up to open applications for the next Ascend cohort this summer.

Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest apps are still open!

There is still time to apply for the 2024 Contest — but don't wait too long! Feb. 16 will be here before you know it.

If you're an entrepreneur looking to open your first brick-and-mortar in Detroit, Hamtramck or Highland Park, then this competition is for you! One lucky winner will receive a $100,000 cash grant and a package of in-kind services to help make their dreams of opening a physical storefront a reality.
