Sparrow Carson and Clinton hospitals receive top national grades from patients
Sparrow Carson and Clinton Hospitals received a five-star rating and ranked among the best hospitals in the state for nurse communication.
Becker's Hospital Review, a medical industry trade magazine that reports on, as well as conducts, its own research on healthcare, gave the Community Hospitals the top rating based on Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) data. HCAHPS surveys are given to patients and cover areas such as how well nurses and physicians communicate with them, communication about medicines, discharge information, and cleanliness of the hospital.
“It's a great recognition for our brilliant nurses at Sparrow Carson Hospital and Sparrow Clinton Hospital,” said Mariah Hesse, RN, interim Chief Nursing Officer, Sparrow Carson and Clinton Hospitals.
“Nurse communication is a key driver for the overall rating of quality patient experience. I am proud to work with nurses that are committed to providing excellent care to the communities we serve. Building trusting relationships with patients, having patients feel respected and listened to, and having their care explained are vital to our care delivery team.”
The star rating is based on survey data collected from hospital patients in 2022. To learn more about Sparrow’s Community Hospitals, go to Sparrow.org.
