WASHINGTON—Senator Debbie Stabenow, senior member of the Senate Finance Committee, released the following statement today applauding the U.S. Department of Treasury on their guidance on the electric vehicle tax credit provision in the Inflation Reduction Act:
“The intent of the Inflation Reduction Act has always been to tackle the climate crisis and support the best workers in the world who are making the vehicles and technologies that will help us win the global clean energy race. As I have said before, the electric vehicle tax credit language as written was not well thought out. Despite this, we need this law to work and today’s guidance from the Treasury Department is an important step in the right direction I applaud the Department for its hard work. I will continue to work with the Biden-Harris Administration, our Michigan manufacturers, and workers to create good-paying jobs right here in the United States.”
