DETROIT – Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) served as Grand Marshal for the 98th America’s Thanksgiving Parade this Thanksgiving Day. This honor is in recognition of her lifetime of service to the State of Michigan. Senator Stabenow served as Grand Marshal alongside Daniel J. Loepp, president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Mike Tirico, one of America’s most recognized sports announcers.
“I’ve been attending America’s Thanksgiving Parade with my family since I was a child, and it’s an honor to serve as Grand Marshal,” said Senator Stabenow. “This is the best parade in the country that showcases holiday spirit and community enthusiasm like no other. The Parade Company does a wonderful job showcasing the City of Detroit and celebrating Michigan.”
“U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow is an extraordinary individual, and we are thrilled to have her as a Grand Marshal, along with Daniel J. Loepp and Mike Tirico, for America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White,” said Tony Michaels, President and CEO, The Parade Company. “She has been a champion for all of the people of Michigan.”
The Michigan Thanksgiving Parade, now known as America’s Thanksgiving Parade, has been a part of family Thanksgiving Day traditions since 1924. Since its founding, the parade has featured one-of-a-kind floats, colorful costumes, souring balloons, and award-winning marching bands.
