Save the Date & Industry Updates – AHF Bulletin #7

A Shunpiker's Journal
June 12, 2020 6:00 PM

AHAThe “AHF Bulletin” is meant to keep our community informed about what’s happening throughout our spheres of interest. Please join us in promoting and celebrating automotive history, culture and aesthetics, by becoming a member, and send us the news you’d like to share.

Considering the headwinds and changed plans we’ve all had to deal with, we are faring well here at the AHF. We’re focused currently on our Automotive Heritage Awards usually presented at the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s in the Brembo media hospitality tent.

Without a Concours and the Brembo tent, we’ve had to rethink our awards ceremony. The plan is rapidly evolving and currently includes a web-based video presentation on July 26th in a format very similar to our usual one with Ed Lucas acting as master of ceremonies and all our usual accomplices involved. Some have suggested we might want to stream it later in the day (usual is 10 AM Eastern Time) for the benefit of those in other time zones. What do you think?

The silver lining to this dark cloud is that we can now have an unlimited number of guests. But we won’t get to feed you lunch.

In any event, consider this a “Save the Date” announcement.

Automotive Heritage Journalism Competition Presented by Kiekert

Entries in the Automotive Heritage Journalism Competition were strong in quality and number in spite of all the distractions our entrants have had to deal with. Our distinguished judges, led by Csaba Csere, are evaluating them now. Alex Buchan is making the trophies.

Thanks for entering and good luck to all!

Future Collectible Vehicle of the Year

Our Future Collectible Vehicle of the Year will be determined by you, our faithful audience. We are generating a list of nominees and will circulate the ballot to all who receive these AHF Updates. You’ll have until the end of June to cast your ballot.

Concept Vehicle of the Year

Brian Baker and his team of designers are considering what concept vehicles were revealed during the past abbreviated auto show season and deserve recognition. The field of choices will be necessarily more limited than usual, but they have many great designs to consider.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Automotive Heritage Lifetime Achievement award honoree had been determined, but we can’t tell you yet. The awards event will include Diane Flis-Schneider of the LeMay – America’s Car Museum (repository of our Lifetime Achievement Permanent Trophy) introducing last year’s honoree, Don Sherman. Don will announce the winner who will make recorded acceptance remarks.

AWAF Scholarship

For the second consecutive year, the Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation will present a $2500 scholarship in the name of the Automotive Heritage Foundation. We are truly grateful for the honor as this prestigious group recognizes the young women who will lead us into the automotive future.

Join the AHF

We not only honor automotive history as documented by our award applicants, but we make history by working to preserve the past. Come join us to share our mission… creating and executing events and projects that honor and promote automotive history, culture, and aesthetics. Become a patron by considering membership and/or sponsorship of any of the multiple levels of support. Since we are a 501 (c3) charitable non-profit, your contributions are meaningful to both our organization, your organization, and your personal/professional affiliations. All are welcome and in keeping with our philanthropic endeavors.
