Working remotely is a dream for many people – even employers. Well, now a startup up, Remote Year, is making that dream come true! They put together 75 professionals who all travel together to 12 cities – one per month – while still keeping their jobs – and still working. The concept is one whose time has come. As Jesse Gross, the company’s Head of Partnerships, asks in this week’s The Trep Talk, ‘why should anyone have to choose between work and travel?’ With Remote Year, they can finally have both.
Humans love have choice and thanks to modern technology an employee can take their work and do it from anywhere – from the coffee shop around the corner, a hotel lobby in a city on different coast, to a beach in South America or Asia. Employers wondering if productivity will slip will be surprised to learn that working remotely actually increases productivity – keeping control over the work remotely. Being in a different country offers an employee to experience other cultures and experience diversity and be around people who inspire them to do better work, and become a better version of themselves.
Sounds wonderful, and it is, if you understand going into it that it isn’t easy; traveling and working are different from a vacation, and the cities you will go to are not necessarily vacation spots. With more people looking to companies to offer more than the standard fare for their talents, you will want to listen to The Trep Talk and learn more about this start up, how it could impact your company and perhaps your own growth. Don’t miss it!
