Capital Comeback to Connect Talent to Career Opportunities with Lansing Region Employers
THIS EVENING

Capitalizing on the holiday migration, the event will connect former, prospective, and current residents with dynamic career opportunities in the Lansing region on the eve of Thanksgiving.

East Lansing, Mich. — Lansing 5:01 invites all former, current, and aspiring residents to the 8th annual Capital Comeback event—an unparalleled opportunity to explore new opportunities to live, work, and play in the vibrant heart of Michigan's capital region.

This year's Capital Comeback event takes place at the new MSU Federal Credit Union tower in Downtown East Lansing at 311 Abbot Road; MSUFCU will be a presenting sponsor in addition to the hosting venue. Attendees will experience a casual and contemporary networking setting in the heart of downtown East Lansing, as the venue offers floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the city, setting the stage for a unique and engaging experience.

Returning professionals will have the chance to discover firsthand the diverse career and living opportunities in the reinvigorated capital region. From global economic hubs to prestigious national headquarters, Lansing boasts a vibrant community with a renowned regional trail system, world-class athletics, and unique entertainment options—from one-of-a-kind eateries to breweries and distilleries.

The Lansing region has broadened its horizons beyond its mainstay industries, such as education, government, and advanced manufacturing, through significant economic investments over the last several years. Lansing is now home to national headquarters of insurance companies, information technology and nuclear physics, and employers are eager to hire top talent.

“The Lansing Region offers tremendous opportunity for businesses and people to locate, expand and excel,” said Bob Trezise, president and CEO of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP). “In addition to many promising startups growing our tech ecosystem, a few recent LEAP-supported projects include German drivetrain testing leader ATESTEO’s new North American headquarters, NEOGEN’s state-of-the-art new biotech manufacturing facility nearing completion, and Ultium’s $2.6 billion new EV battery plant. All three companies mentioned are hiring dozens to hundreds of diverse roles now and in the coming months, and these are just a few examples of new exciting career opportunities offered across the region.”

Young professionals and families from Michigan and beyond are recognizing Lansing as an attractive place to call home, too. Recent studies have ranked the Lansing region has having some of the best school districts in the state, with a 10% lower average cost of living than the national average.

“More and more people are recognizing that Lansing is an affordable, lively place to call home that provides easy access to the rest of Michigan and the Midwest. Coupled with being an emerging hub for creatives, entrepreneurs, artists, small businesses, and nonprofits, the region is continuing to experience a contagious energy and revitalization,” said Christopher Sell, executive director of Lansing 5:01.

Part of the Back to Michigan campaign – a series of talent homecoming networking events where people interested in relocating to Michigan, and current residents who are seeking a new opportunity, can connect with hiring companies – the Capital Comeback will take place on Wednesday, November 22 from 4pm – 7pm EST. This year’s event will feature more than 20 companies from a wide variety of industries, including insurance and financial services, education, state government, health care and technology. Complimentary appetizers and drinks will be provided for attendees to enjoy while also participating in #LoveLansing giveaways throughout the evening.

A highlight of this year's event is the introduction of the Tech Corridor, featuring approximately 10 local technology startups actively seeking to recruit talent for their high-growth ventures. This convergence of innovation and opportunity creates a dynamic atmosphere for professionals considering a career in Lansing's thriving tech scene. This new addition to the event is made possible with the support of the Lansing Regional SmartZone.

Participating organizations, employers, and startups include: Auto-Owners Insurance, Barber2Beauty, City of Lansing, Dewpoint, Enspired Solutions, Great Lakes Crystal Technologies, Innomotive LLC, InterJad, Ionetix Corporation, Jackson National, Lansing Board of Water & Light, Lansing Community College, LEAP, Michigan State Police, Michigan State University, MSU Federal Credit Union, Peckham, Inc., Sparrow Health System, Stunio, SWRT Solution, Inc., Ultium Cells, and Up or On The Rocks Hospitality.
