$57 Million in Out-of-School Time Grant Funds Available for Community-Based Organizations to Help Support Students Outside of the Classroom
LANSING, Mich. – Today, the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) announced that $57 million in grant funds are available to support community-based organizations in providing before-school, after-school or summer programming to children.
“By providing nurturing and educational programming for young learners outside of the classroom, we are giving them unique learning opportunities and a safe place to be while their families are at work or school,” said Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, director of MiLEAP. “We are pleased to offer these grant opportunities to further support or expand high-quality programs in communities across Michigan.”
Out-of-School time grants will support programs that facilitate socialization, better academic performance and build confidence for Michigan’s youth, while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for them outside of classroom hours.
Eligible community-based organizations may apply for grant funding to support expanded learning opportunities, including mentoring, leadership, visual and performing arts, literacy, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and more. This grant opportunity will be awarded through a competitive application process, following the legislatively required 30 days’ notice before the grant application period opens. Eligible organizations that want to learn more can visit the Out-of-School Time Grants webpage.
