Jeffrey Mosher welcomes back Nora Farhat, Owner, of Pool Scouts, Detroit, MI.

Hear Nora and Jeffrey discuss her ongoing journey in franchising, owning Pool Scouts in Detroit, and business advice.in this SoundCloud Podcast shared below.

Jeffrey had several questions for Nora:

What did you do before franchising?

Why did you choose franchising over starting your own business?

What have you learned about franchising? What are the advantages/disadvantages?

Why did you choose Pool Scouts/the pool industry?

How has it been being a minority/female owner of multiple businesses and a mother?

What advice do you have for others looking to get into business ownership/franchising?

What are your goals moving forward?

A recent report from Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 shows that the percentage of women franchise owners has risen for five consecutive years, going back to 2016. And Pool Scouts is seeing the same trend. With 75 people working for her across all of her brands, Farhat is aware that she’s in a powerful position to encourage others, and she takes it seriously. Despite the stereotypes and fights many women have to go through, in any industry, she believes that it can be turned into an advantage by constantly having to prove herself as a professional in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Above all, nothing is more valuable to Farhat than raising her three daughters and showing them first-hand what a strong woman in business ownership looks like.
