LEO Meets with Business, Policy and Education Leaders to Ensure Michigan Statewide Workforce Plan Remains a Priority
Mackinac Island, Mich. — Building a strong workforce is essential to growing Michigan's middle class and ensuring everyone has the tools and resources they need to succeed. The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) is meeting with business, policy and education leaders during the Mackinac Policy Conference to ensure the Michigan Statewide Workforce Plan remains a priority on their agendas. The stakes are high, and these conversations ensure the plan is put into action and doesn't simply sit on a shelf now that it's completed.
Michigan's workforce is on the rise, with the state ranking #3 in the nation and #1 in the Midwest for workforce integration. In the last six months alone, Michigan has experienced a remarkable 2.5% growth in the percentage of workers added to the workforce. The Michigan Statewide Workforce Plan outlines a collaborative vision where state departments and external partners work together to further this growth and achieve ambitious goals to increase skills and degree attainment, expand opportunities to grow the middle class, and enable business growth.
