Watch Leslie and Chris discuss Freekeh Harvest™ and the upcoming buyer-Supplier Matchmaking in the YouTube video shared below:

Leslie, first of all, tell us about Freekah (“free-kuh”) Harvest?

I understand you will have a booth at the April Pure Michigan Business Connect event: "Making It in Michigan", tell us about that?

I hear you are launching Freekeh Harvest™ Baked Pita Chips, starting in Lansing, Detroit, and Grand Rapids, what makes that special?

As a woman-owned Michigan-based business, how are you doing with regard to the talent issue, are you attracting and retaining people?

What else should we know about Freekah Harvest?

Up-to-speed details Freekeh Harvest is woman-owned, Michigan-based. She will be manning a Freekeh Harvest booth at the Making It In Michigan event. Freekeh is a truly unique product to the American snack-food industry - a food that has never before been introduced to Americans, let alone to the American snack-food market (a rare event.) Over 30 Michigan stores - including the Capital City Market - have signed up to carry Freekeh Harvest Baked Pita Chips.

Freekeh Harvest™ Baked Pita Chips deliver a wonderful roasted taste and a nutritional powerhouse in every serving. The chips provide 3 times more protein and fiber and up to 50% less fat than other pita chips. And while new to America, freekeh is a celebrated staple of a Mediterranean diet. Target customers are healthy snackers and moms looking for healthy snack options for the family or foodies looking for a new food experience.

With high fiber and protein, the chips are not only perfect as a healthy snack for active kids, they also have a low glycemic index, a low-fat and low-calorie count compared to other grains and are an ideal choice for vegans, vegetarians, and individuals managing diabetes. Freekeh has three times the fiber and protein compared to brown rice and fewer calories, fat, and higher fiber than quinoa.

Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC) and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) are excited to partner with the MSU Product Center on the 2023 Making It In Michigan* event, held on April 20 at the Lansing Center. As a part of the Making It In Michigan event, PMBC and MDARD will host one-on-one matchmaking meetings bringing together purchasers including grocers, retailers, distributors, institutional buyers, or others looking to source Michigan-made food and beverage products, with Michigan food, beverage, and agriculture businesses from around the state - all with one common goal to strengthen the state's food supply chain.

Buyers include Bronson Methodist Hospital, Cherry Capital Foods, Cherry Republic, Corewell Health, Food Bank Council of MI, Horrocks Farm Market, Lionbear Hospitality, Kalsec, Kellogg, Meijer Market Format Stores, MSU Dairy Store, SpartanNash, University of Michigan, and Western Michigan University.

Additional buyers are anticipated; applicants will be notified as they are added.

MICHIGAN FOOD & BEVERAGE BUSINESSES: Would you like to get your Michigan-made innovative products in front of buyers and distributors?

Not all businesses may be selected for meetings but will be able to take advantage of other great Making It In Michigan resources and programming opportunities. Please note this application is separate from registration for the Making It In Michigan tradeshow and conference.

We encourage you to review these resources to prepare you to be "buyer-ready", and to learn of additional business support services through PMBC and MDARD.
