Welcome, Kristina. You serve as chief operating officer of the Flint & Genesee Group. For our listeners who might not be as familiar with your organization, what does the Group do?

The Group’s annual meeting coming up. What can people expect from this year’s event?

Attracting jobs and investments is a key part of economic development. What are some recent wins and how is the business attraction pipeline looking lately?

Talent retention and attraction is a big priority for employers these days. What are you doing in that space?

I read that GM and the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance are partnering again on another round of the Moving Flint Forward Small Business Grant Program. Can you talk about the impact of this program so far?

Flint & Genesee Group to reflect on successes in business, talent, place during annual meeting

ROCK’s Matthew Rizik to serve as keynote speaker

(Flint, Mich.,) The community is invited to attend the Flint & Genesee Group’s 2024 Annual Meeting, which will be held Thursday, March 14 at the FIM Capitol Theater in downtown Flint. Themed “Connected for Good,” this year’s program will highlight recent achievements and reflect on 2023 as a year of building and strengthening connections.

This year’s keynote speaker is Matthew Rizik, chief executive officer for ROCK (left), the family office for the Gilbert family and its family of companies. He also serves as chief financial officer, treasurer, and director of Rock Holdings Inc. Previously, Rizik spent three decades at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he worked with high-wealth individuals and created the firm’s professional sports and entertainment practice.

Rizik is a native of Genesee County, where he attended Powers Catholic High School. He has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University.

“We’re excited to hear from Matthew Rizik on the importance of collective effort for positive change,” noted Group CEO Tim Herman. “Collaboration is vital for success, and we hope the underlying message of this event will help drive home the importance of fostering meaningful connections in building a stronger Flint & Genesee.”

The Group’s annual meeting is open to the public. An American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will be present at the event. Doors open at 2 p.m., with the program beginning at 3 p.m.
