Couples spent an average of $23,000 on their Michigan weddings last year, and that number is only growing. The wedding industry is a big one in our state, contributing millions to our economy. A new publication has launched to help highlight that and to make Michigan vendors shine.

Nearlywed, which was created by the publisher of Grand Rapids Bride, will hit newsstands on November 14th. It will be the first statewide wedding publication of its kind, featuring stories about real Michigan weddings, the latest industry trends and a comprehensive directory of Michigan wedding vendors.

● It includes vendor advertisements, articles, as well as photos and details from real weddings.
● The magazine’s goal is to help highlight the beauty of Michigan weddings and inspire others to utilize Michigan vendors and venues.

● The total number of weddings in Michigan in 2022 was almost 62,000. Michigan was ranked 11th out of other states in this category.
● The market size of the wedding services industry by revenue in the United States is $70.3 billion as of 2023.
● The average cost of a wedding in the United States was $29,195 in 2022; the average cost of a wedding in Michigan was $23,000, 32nd out of the states.
● There were 2,401,148 weddings in the United States in 2022 – that’s over 6,000 weddings every day.
● 63% of engaged couples had to postpone their weddings in 2020 due to the pandemic, now those numbers are normalizing after a big boom.
