Question: How can attendees prepare for the job fair?
There is no need for attendees to formally prepare.
This is a casual event – there is no dress code or need to prepare resume materials.
We do recommend participants be ready to ask questions they may have about companies and industries and be ready to have conversations with employers.
It is a rain-or-shine event, so prepare accordingly.
After the job fair, if job seekers are looking for additional materials to prepare for upcoming interviews they can visit Capital Area Michigan Works!. We offer a variety of workshops including:

Question: Capital Area Michigan Works! is a partner of this year’s job fair. Why is it important for CAMW! to be present at community events like the Lansing Juneteenth Celebration?
We want to give companies and the people in our community access to each other.
This event provides the opportunity for companies to hire skilled and diverse employees and showcase their workplace as a quality place to work and do business.
The workforce is woven into nearly every aspect of our community.
The people employed within the community are deeply integrated into various aspects of the community’s life.
They contribute to local events, support small and local businesses, participate in community projects and engage in various activities beyond their employer.
Carrie, feel free to add any other details you may have.
It is important for community organizations to better connect with current and potential employees in new and authentic ways.
According to the Manpower Group, 75% of employers reported difficulty in filling roles in 2024.
The resource fair provides a unique opportunity for employers to engage with community members in a casual, personal and less intimidating way.
Carrie, feel free to expand on or add to these points.
