Chris Holman welcomes back Alyssa Troub, Marketing and Communications Specialist, West Lansing Branch, LAFCU, Lansing, MI.

Watch Alyssa and Chris discuss LAFCU's Spring Shred-It Day set for Saturday, in this YouTube video shared below:

Welcome back Alyssa, it's that time of the year again for LAFCU, tell us about Shred-It Day?

Identity theft is among the big concerns for businesses and individuals, remind our listeners about how a shred-it-day can help.

For the businesses and individuals who drop by your headquarters, do they have to be directly affiliated with your credit union?

How long has LAFCU been offering this twice a year, and how well has it been received and utilized by the community?

Is there anything else we should know at this time? (scholarships etc,...)

Remind the audience again about the what, when, where, and why?

Below are more details shared by LAFCU for the April 22nd morning opportunity.

Credit union offers free secure destruction of personal information to help prevent identity theft

LANSING, Mich. — Is spring cleaning on your to-do list? Looking to lower your risk of identity theft? LAFCU is offering a free event to assist with both.

As part of the credit union’s annual Shred Day, a mobile shredding truck will be at LAFCU’s headquarters/West Lansing Branch, 106 N. Marketplace Blvd., Lansing, on April 22 from 10 a.m. to noon, for on-site, secure destruction of personal documents.

Recommended materials to shred have identifying information about financial, medical, and Social Security accounts. Examples are receipts, address labels, bills, insurance claims, tax forms, and checking, savings, and loan statements. Each person may drop off up to four banker’s boxes of materials.

“If you’re cleaning out files this spring or have saved billing statements or other documents with personal information on them that are no longer needed, it is best practice to shred them to lower your risk of and prevent identity theft,” said Alyssa Troub, LAFCU marketing, and communications specialist. “The public is invited and encouraged to take advantage of this free, annual LAFCU event because the credit union wants everyone to be safe from the dangers of fraud and theft and support the financial health of the entire community.”
