Cheryl Ronk, president of MSAE, talks with Michael Gallery, Ph.D., CAE, FASAE as he addresses the importance of integrating data driven decision making into strategic planning, governance and member research agenda. “Great organizations do not assume. They research.”
This 6 segment show indicates the importance of data, how to collect it and how to use it for decisions. Michael recommends that each association have an annual budget for research and that they ask some key questions about loyalty to provide insight or indicators for the future.
He mentions how valuable the governance group can be when they focus on decisions, and then you collect data to help make those decisions. In this area Michael likes to use a listing and ranking system that he describes. He outline correlations, how to test assumptions and the importance of secondary research. Great associations use data in effective ways to increase their effectiveness.
