MEDC logoMichigan Expands Support in 28 Small Business HUBZones

Michigan secured continued Small Business Administration backing for small businesses in 28 counties and areas designated for economic development.

Program impact: In FY2021, the HUBZone program awarded over $219 million in federal contract dollars to participating small businesses.

Future outlook: Over the last five years, the MEDC has helped companies in these areas announce projects that are expected to create over 1,800 new jobs and bring more than $3.5 billion in private investment.

Michigan Parks Get Tech Upgrade

Lt. Governor Gilchrist II reveals projects enhancing park accessibility and sustainability through the National Park Service Mobility Challenge Program.

Safe and sustainable: The funds include a $250,000 grant for an automated electric bus on Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Moving mobility: The bus will be another Michigan milestone for ADASTEC, which moved from San Francisco to Ann Arbor to be near our mobility innovation epicenter.
